A broom finish is one of the most common and practical concrete surface textures - great for slip resistance and durability. It is simple, affordable, and ideal for driveways, walkways, and patios where grip and functionality are key.
- Site Prep: Clear and excavate the area, then compact a stable gravel base to ensure proper drainage.
- Formwork: Install solid, level forms with the proper slope for water runoff.
- Reinforcement: Use wire mesh or rebar to strengthen the slab and prevent cracking.
- Concrete Pouring: our standard concrete (around 3,000–4,000 psi), level it with screeds, and float it smooth.
- Broom Application: Once the surface loses its sheen but is still plastic, drag a broom across it to create a uniform texture. Use different broom types for fine or coarse finishes.
- Curing: Keep the surface moist for 5–7 days to develop strength and minimize surface cracks.
- Sealing (Optional): Apply a concrete sealer to enhance durability and protect against stains and moisture.
